This role ensures compliance with National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits, performs testing and reporting, and prepares quarterly reports. The Operator I also maintains preventive maintenance programs and provides support across Public Works as needed.</p> <hr data-start="1545" data-end="1550" /> <h3 data-start="1551" data-end="1577"><strong data-start="1555" data-end="1575">Responsibilities</strong></h3> <ul data-start="1579" data-end="2833"> <li data-start="1579" data-end="1667">Respond to customer complaints and coordinate with operators for repairs or services</li> <li data-start="1668" data-end="1800">Serve as plan holder of community sewer system plans; read and interpret blueprints for installation and repair of sewer systems</li> <li data-start="1801" data-end="1890">Provide oversight and assist contractors and agencies with locating system components</li> <li data-start="1891" data-end="2002">Organize and maintain preventive maintenance programs per manufacturer recommendations and department needs</li> <li data-start="2003" data-end="2076">Produce annual budget outlines for supplies, equipment, and O&M needs</li> <li data-start="2077" data-end="2204">Perform NPDES-required testing (BOD, total suspended solids, chlorine residual, pH, DO, coliform) and report results to EPA</li> <li data-start="2205" data-end="2268">Enforce plant safety, procedures, and regulatory compliance</li> <li data-start="2269" data-end="2385">Analyze plant and lab records, adjust processes to improve efficiency, and maintain calibration of lab equipment</li> <li data-start="2386" data-end="2537">Conduct daily inspections of treatment plant and lift stations, troubleshooting and repairing panels, pumps, float controls, and electrical systems</li> <li data-start="2538" data-end="2640">Maintain records and reports of wastewater operations, including quarterly program accomplishments</li> <li data-start="2641" data-end="2723">Perform routine lawn maintenance and wash downs at treatment and lift stations</li> <li data-start="2724" data-end="2833">Respond to system emergencies and support cross-training for water distribution repairs and installations</li> </ul> <hr data-start="2835" data-end="2840" /> <h3 data-start="2841" data-end="2871"><strong data-start="2845" data-end="2869">Minimum Requirements</strong></h3> <ul data-start="2873" data-end="2968"> <li data-start="2873" data-end="2903">High school diploma or GED</li> <li data-start="2904" data-end="2968">At least 1 year of experience in wastewater or related field</li> </ul> <h3 data-start="2970" data-end="3004"><strong data-start="2974" data-end="3002">Preferred Qualifications</strong></h3> <ul data-start="3006" data-end="3506"> <li data-start="3006" data-end="3121">Group I/II State Certification in Wastewater Treatment Plant Operations (or ability to obtain within 24 months)</li> <li data-start="3122" data-end="3194">Valid Washington State driver’s license and insurable driving record</li> <li data-start="3195" data-end="3277">Competence in computer applications (word processing, databases, spreadsheets)</li> <li data-start="3278" data-end="3320">Strong reporting and analytical skills</li> <li data-start="3321" data-end="3412">Ability to interpret technical data, apply formulas, and monitor treatment requirements</li> <li data-start="3413" data-end="3506">Ability to work fluctuating hours, weekends, holidays, and respond to emergency call outs</li> </ul> <hr data-start="3508" data-end="3513" /> <h3 data-start="3514" data-end="3540"><strong data-start="3518" data-end="3538">Additional Notes</strong></h3> <ul data-start="3542" data-end="3915"> <li data-start="3542" data-end="3606">Physical demands include occasional lifting up to 100 pounds</li> <li data-start="3607" data-end="3705">Work involves occasional exposure to wet/humid and outdoor conditions; noise level is moderate</li> <li data-start="3706" data-end="3841">Must pass pre-employment alcohol and drug test and comply with random testing under the Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace Act of 2002</li> <li data-start="3842" data-end="3915">Equal Opportunity Employer; Indian Preference applies per federal law</li> </ul> <hr data-start="3917" data-end="3922" /> <h3 data-start="3923" data-end="3945"><strong data-start="3927" data-end="3943">How to Apply</strong></h3> <p data-start="3947" data-end="4010">Submit a Tribal Application with supporting documentation to:</p> <p data-start="4012" data-end="4098">Makah Tribal Council<br data-start="4032" data-end="4035" />Human Resources<br data-start="4050" data-end="4053" />P.O.
